Default Wrecked....

So my girlfriend bought her first mustang in july after trading in her 2006 G6 a week before Mustang Week so we could drive ours down!! 2003 gt 5spd 70K miles. Dec. 26th she wrecked it. a semi crossed over on a two lane in opposite direction and road had snow on it she hit a tree on the passenger side 35mph and she was fine and the car has damage to the door and the front bumper is messed up. insurance money will be here next week and thats when we will start puttin it back together. putting it back together stock will be fine but she has always wanted to do more to it this coming summer which has turned into right now!!! haha first question when lowering it the correct way you need to do new shocks/struts at same time as springs but does that mean just new in general? are there different heights and all that with them just as well as springs? and if she was to want the dark smoked headlights will that make a BIG difference in visibility at night or is that just with the smoked covers? its her DD and next year .... not in the snow! haha

Hmmm... Well first off, i'm glad she is OK...

The dark smoked headlights are pretty damn dark.. I can't imagine using them with halogen bulbs... HID's or nothing in my opinion. The covers actually seem to be even darker... The kid down the street from me had the covers and he always peeled them off at night. HID's in smoked housings work perfectly fine and light up the road...

As for springs/shocks/struts... You don't HAVE to change your dampers when changing your springs... If you go lower than 1.5", it's safe to say that you'll most likely need to change out your dampers to allow for better oscillation of the new spring ratings that come with being so low...

If you stick to a 1.5" drop, you can probably slide away from having to get CC plates and/or new dampers...

Specific dampers DO allow for more drop or less drop considering on what you are getting as a spring... Something like Foxbody dampers allows for about a 1/2" more bump travel which equates to more drop before bottoming out the dampers... Something like stock dampers at a low ride height will not be in their optimal range and will most likely perform negatively from anything beside stock height.

My opinion -- Stick with a 1.5" drop via springs and avoid having to get new dampers/CC plates (unless your dampers are shot to sh*t)...

pictures on here really look like it was nothin lol but the door has a pretty good curve to it and the window will just fall down a few inches every so often then gotta roll it up haha you can see the speaker screws pointing through the outside of the door (cant really see in pictures though) front bumper damage from going down incline of shoulder onto residents level ground. glad it wasnt any steeper so it only got the bumper.

My vote is for some tokico hp foxbody dampers... A good daily driver damper that handles spirited driving very well...
