I cant get my traction control button to come on. anyone know what the problem could be with this? Also my buddy has a 2000 gt just like me but doesnt have that button. Although the traction control has came on by its self before. but now i cant get it to come on.

by come on i assume you mean turn it off? when the light is on, TC is off. if you have a tuner just disable it, its worthless crap and only there as a "bells and whistles" for bad drivers anyways. i wish my car never even came with it.

if permanentally disabling it still doesnt do anything you likely have a broken wire. your gonna have to get a DMM and start checking the loop. that would be my only easy explination for it turning off by itself.

and to your friends gt, not all mustangs came with traction control.

He is talking about the light on the actual TC button. If you see the dash light, then the TC is on.

 

Try a burnout and see if the traction control kicks in (you'll see a light come on in your gauge cluster). That should tell you if it is working. It should be on by default each time you start your car. You have to push the button to turn it off (the light on the switch should come on at that time).

If you cannot get the traction cotrol to activate, the previous owner may have had it programmed to be off all the time (that is how I have mine programmed now).

If the traction control can be activated, but the switch light cannot be turned on by toggling the switch... you may simply have a bad or missing bulb.

When you get in and drive tc is already on... You have to push button to disengage

 

On my 00 Gt, the Traction Control works, but no light comes on in the bottom of the switch when you toggle it off. I took the switch out and found 2 very small bulbs in sockets on the side of the switch. One is illumination, the other is illumination for "off"...when you press it. Found some very, very tiny bulbs at Radio Shack and that fixed it. A new switch is $50.00 bucks at Ford....that's a lot of dough just to get the little lights to work. The pack of bulbs at Radio Shack was $1.99. My fog light switch was the same way....those are different bulbs.....but again....easy fix. I have all the bulb numbers if any one needs them.

Correct. The traction control automatically turns ON when you start the car. The button on your dash only turns the traction control OFF.

 

If TC was disabled with the SCT, the TC light will never come on no matter what the situation is or what the driver does.
