Default Camaro T-56???

Alrighty guys...got a question...

Could i swap over a T-56 from a camaro ss?? Are the parts needed like the ones for a viper spec. My buddy's swappin his for an auto and wanted to know if i wanted it.

Its got some miles on it so id probably get it rebuilt and make it bullet proof. He wants around 1k for it. Do you think i could get it rebuilt for a reasonable price. Or should i just get a viper spec T-56?

My gfs brother (owns a firehawk pretty big car guy) said that i couldn't do the swap because of the gear ratios or something idk. I thought a T-56 was a T-56.

Any advise would help guys! Thanks!

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Mustang+Camaro+T56+swap

lol I wish I knew how to hyperlink on here to make it more comical. Read some of the stuff on there. They are the same transmission, but they have different shifter locations, different input and output shafts, and the conversion would cost you more in the long run for a used transmission.

BTW, go with a magnum T56 over a Viper spec. Viper spec uses a 2.66 1st gear ratio. Thats crazy high. Ours stock is 3.38 and an 03 cobra is 2.97. With your high revving car, you dont want any lower than a 2.97 first gear. I never really got the whole viper t56 swap. The gear ratios are all goofy. I know the strength is better, but the gear ratios are messed up as hell!

thats too much if it needs rebuilt. i paid $1100 for a complete t56 swap from a cobra with 20,000 miles on it. Came with an mgw, aluminum driveshaft, and the crossmember.
