Default UDPs yes or no??

are UDPs that harmful to the engine as some people claim??? I have seen all kinds of good and bad reviews for them... people state that the UDPs F'Up their oil pumps, I saw a thread that said if I go with billet oil pump gears I should be ok... I dont know if I should get some or not for my build, this will be a N/A 4v engine which I am planning on revving to 7.5k rpms... any input will be really appreciated....

For the gains\risk factor ..I don't bother with UDPs.

You would better spend your money on a hummer from a hooker.

They are a waste of money IMO, if they were some ultra mod, I would have lost to all the bolt on gts iv raced with them.

Gears>* bolt ons

That is exactly what i mean... some people claim their engine broke because of the UDPs and people like you have them for years with no issue at all.... and if they add some HP they will be worth it since I am going N/A every little bit counts... well at least that is what I think =)..

NO RISK to the motor, if you get a good set like the STEEDAs. STEEDA has the damper fabricated in with their crank pulley. The piggyback units are not as good of a configuration.

One extra piece of installation advice...
Be sure to thread a long bolt pretty far down into the crank shaft threads and use that to pull the pulley on a ways first, then use the supplied bolt. It is possible to damage the threads in the crank if you don't engage enough threads and try to pull the pulley down.

UDP won't give you more power, but it will reduce the amount of power robbed by turning your accessories. The gain is not huge (probably 2-4rwhp), but if you keep throwing pennies into a jar, pretty soon you have a dollar. Several small improvements do add up.

If you think you will end up putting a blower on it one day, just start saving up for that and don't start with the small bolt-ons.

I've had no issues with my Steeda's either, and they've been on for about 3 years as well.

Yep that is what I heard that Steeda were the best or near the best UDP out there for our engines.. but recently I came across a thread in corral and a guy said that March and Steeda UDP were caca.. well I dont know about March but sure have heard the opposite for Steeda... what got me confused is that no one corrected him... making me believe that they are no good???....
