Have you let the cd changer go through the loading process? when the shaker 500 goes dead, it goes through a cd reading process, and usually takes about a minute. Until that is done, the CD function of the radio is useless.

I have tried that.I let it go through the process,it sounds like its shuffling through all cds but it doesnt detect any of them.It just shows 6 blank circles on the display!Think it may be easier 2 just replace it with a new cd player & throw the factory one as far as i can!!! cant believe a dead battery would cause such a problem!! Thanks for your help & let me know if you hear of anything else. Thanks again!!!
