Default To anyone considering BBK exhaust components

Hey all. I'm about to go get my car from having a k member installed and a bad exhaust leak at the cylinder head fixed. I just got off the phone with Radical Racing in jersey that did the work. I've been planning on running a turbo since i got the car, so when I did exhaust, I got BBK shorties. One of the header flanges was so badly warped that they had to send it out to be milled and trued. This is proof of the reasons that when I see a thread about exhaust, I recommend going with a quality brand, and why I say that if I ever decided to change my plans and get longtubes, I would shell out the money for a product like kooks or ARH. For anyone that plans on running a set of BBK's or other cheap header, things like this are why they sell for the price they do.

BBK's always have a bit of deflection. That and weld spatter inside the ports. Grind off the spatter and use a mapgas and strategically wash and clamp the flange to fix extreme deflection. Or in your case you could have sent it back to them and either received a refund or a new pair.

It's really not as complicated as you're making it.

I'm sorry but sending the header to be 'milled and trued' was not the best choice.

That sucks. I've had nothing but great success with my BBK long tubes.

Sorry you had a less than perfect experience!
Curious how they warped once bolted in place properly. What caused the warpage?

Still loving my BBK long tubes. I'd by them again for sure.
All of my BBK products over the years have been of good quality.

Should have contacted Hoss. He could have hooked you up over at BBK. Sorry to hear of your troubles and best of luck getting it all sorted out man.

I think you just got unlucky with one slipping by QC. I've installed 2 sets of BBK shorties and never had a problem.

It's been worked out, the car is back and running fine. The header flange was actually cupped. Not sure what the cause was. But other than this, the shop that did the work said these are probably the worst shorty header out there. They always end up leaking, and I can say that's true cuz a friend of mine has the exact same set up and also has a leak in his.
