Muffler choices
OK, so after finally getting the H-pipe (Summit) sealed tight, with MIL elims, 1 extender (drivers side) I am throwing no codes and I welded the join because the clamp sucked awful.
Now onto the mufflers. With my 89 5.0, I used BBK headers and an entire Mac System with H-pipe that was so perfect. It fit good, sounded good and lasted well. It was loud, but not earth shattering loud. In every other V-8 I have owned (5) I have used flowmaster 40's with cats. If I have the OR H-pipe will 50's be nice and loud? Will they be louder than stock? Right now it sounds pretty good with the stock mufflers and the Summit pipe, but just not loud enough.
Anyone running that combo? Or is there a recommendation other than flowmaster that fits the bill and is less money?

Well i have Dynomax bullets w/ my o/r h and it will wake the dead haha...its MEAN sounding but still has a deep tone down low!
But before i had flowmaster 40s w/ the o/r h and it sounded really good..nice and deep, and plenty of volume.
Im really wanting for SLP LM2s to put on this thing...i think it will add a lot more tone.
SUMMARY: Id try the 40s and see how ya like em...they're very cheap to find and if you don't like em...you can change and not be hurting in the wallet!

A buddy of mine had the 50's series with shorty headers and a o/r x pipe, and it was very quiet. Louder than stock of course, but very very quiet in the realm of aftermarket exhausts.
Personally i think 40's or 44's with a o/r h sound awesome. Not too loud, but loud enough with a great overall tone.

As has been my experience. On a 2004 Ram 2500 4x4, I was only towing a boat and at every incline it was murder on the family. I replaced it with a 2005 Cummins Diesel, it has a wide open 4" exhaust and less disturbing than the Hemi with 40's.. Those had cats too!
Of course, this isn't the family car is it now? I just feel like I wouldn't be letting my neighbors down if I didn't let them know whenever I was leaving/arriving. Heck, they used to compliment me on the Mac setup of my 5.0, why not this too?
