What motor would you build?
Lots of great ideas guys its cool to see whats goin on in your heads because Im sure its something that comes across your mind at least once a day.
Ive been wanting to piece together a used vortech kit with an ic and relax with the performance mods. Obviously ill address suspension and fuel issues along with this but thats not the point of this thread. I know alot of you guys are running these sort of kits but I think im too big of a pansy to pull the trigger and risk blowing my motor and being in deep DEEP **** trying to fix it and still get to work and class. If i had forged internals i would feel much better about it, but would it be smarter to just skip that step and build a whole new motor?
Gotta agree with you guys the new 5.0 appears to be an awesome platform and I cant even imagine what the next few years will bring to that aftermarket. Definitely dont have the budget to buy a new car of the $$$$ right now so modding my car looks to be my best option. Keep the ideas rollin guys, love to hear more opinions.
To try to put a cap on the budget lets say anywhere between 5 and 7k???? Does that sound realistic to build a stout high reving bada** motor?

Nick McKinney feels that you can build a badass n/a motor for around $6k intake to oil pan. That's using ported pi heads and his cam grinds and is making like 330-340rwhp I think. Then the guy had a plate kit on it for like a 200 shot. I'm a fan of n/a cars, if they are properly setup with the correct gearing choice, compression, cam choice, and other things.

In the defense of fi, if you drive like a sane person you would have anything to worry about. I would personally dd a 700rwhp vehicle with it set up properly with correct gearing, suspension, and tires. I mean as long as you don't do anything stupid, driving an fi car with 500rwhp should drive like stock if setup right. Just when you hit boost it acts like the beast it is.
I agree with ya teej I think I am leaning toward a n/a motor because down here in good ole FL the rain comes outa nowhere sometimes and I just dont see it being too practical to try and drive a 500 rwhp car around in sudden downpours. The setup you described sounds pretty awesome and more realistic ino terms of my budget and needs. Ill keep the ridiculous hp goals to the 89 coupe id like to eventually build one day

Forgive my lack of acronym knowledge but does that mean short block ford? Like a crate engine? If so any specific reason or cubic inch you have in mind?

Was talking about my roomates car. We should be getting it dyno tuned tomorrow in sarasota.
Unfortunately mine is still down. But cobra bumper / gt spoiler and hood are at the paint shop. Next week the enginebay gets sprayed. Geting closer and closer on my car.
well since i already built my 4.6, but have yet to get it running for more than 30 seconds, i'd build a sick new 5.0 and drop it into a 300zx, then maybe i'd build a pushrod 5.0 and drop that into a 240sx.
