So the other day on the way to work i got pulled over for " loud exhaust" and got a 40 dollar ticket. The cop only heard my car from 1st to 3rd and i shifted at 2k cuz i knew there was one behind me. and yes IT WAS A GIRL COP FTL! " your car is just so annoying i had to pull you over." well My main question is what are the state laws for Il. for decibels for cars and someone please answer this why can Harley Davidsons be obnoxiously loud and they dont get pulled over? what gives?

 

They should spend more time pulling over cars with thumping bass you can hear for a block!

BTW..My GT is very loud and I have a COP in my town following me when he see my car.

I dont think he can do crap though because my car pass MA. state inspection every year in a service station in my town.

I 2nd that !!! Its more annoying to hear loud thumping bass than it is too hear a nice loud muscle car .

Damn tree huggers are the ones that started this crap with muscle cars trying to get rid of them for their hybreds junk !!! so they cant win the mpg war so why not say theyre noise poluters ??

Cops can pull you over and very easily give you a ticket if you car has ANY exhaust modifcations performed and they deem it 'loud or distracting etc..."

The reason many bikes arent pulled over is because they are loud from the factory..


technically however, in a lot of areas, even a stock bike can be pulled over if the police officer feels the driver is making too much noise

fortunately the ticket was dropped before I had to do anything about it

If you're not driving like an idiot or anything, he's just following you around, you can bring up harassment to the local police chief. I'd be pissed.

 

Yes, I too am curious what exhaust set-up you have on your car?

Based on the info you have given, I am surprised that you got pulled just for that (unless you are running a very loud configuation).
