I recently bought a 02 Mustang GT and when i start it up it fires up but then kinda just dies. I normally do that 2-3 times be4 it stays running and soon as its running its perfectly fine. anybody know what going on? My roommate says it could be the fuel pump.

 

Is this with a hot or cold engine--or both?

What happens if you just cycle the key between RUN and OFF (keep it in RUN for 3-4 seconds) 4 or 5 timers before actually trying to start the engine. This will cause the fuel pump to run for 1-2 seconds each time you cycle the key; it may be some sort of fuel pressure issue at start-up.

If it starts and runs after cycling the key a few times (or not) let us know...
