Default First time at the track!

Well i went to our local 1/8th mile track tonight for the first time. I really enjoyed it! Ate a couple rice burners and a few other pretty decent cars.

I ran a 9.51 with a 2.2 60 ft. The track has pot holes in it and is not well prepared at all. I spin bad off the line and even start spinning a little into 2nd. But is that about right for just having exhaust, a canned tune, a CAI, and heavier wheels? And its an automatic with no stall.

The track is in Baileyton close to Arab and Cullman. But yeah it's only 7 bucks for as many passes as you want. But yeah the track is rough. I think the last time it was paved was in the late 80's or early 90's. Just a bunch of good ole boys in their Fox Body's go up are up there lol. The only reason I went there was because Huntsville Dragway had a big tournament going. Next time I will either go there or go to a 1/4 mile track.

You mean to tell me there are potholes down the actual track itself? If so that's just plain nuts. I mean wouldn't that be just a slight liability lol?

Don't you have cams and all kinds of go fast parts?? Gotta go to an NHRA sanctioned track! Out of the 4 tracks near me there is only one sanctioned. $30 to race and it's totally worth it.

Get yourself some dr's man. Completely different car on the track!

EDIT: Wait ...sorry I thought you were Cory. I always get you two mixed up.

Yeah there are up until a little past the 60 ft mark. And past that there are dips and cracks until the finish line. And there's a big sign at the front that says "No Insurance, Run at Your Own Risk" lol. It's crazy how many built drag cars actually go down it though. It gets pretty dangerous for them.

Like last night a 89 lx coupe with a built 347 stroker with a 88mm turbo couldn't get one good pass because of the condition of the track and my buddy with a 08 Saleen Racecraft 420S couldn't do anything. He would smoke em off the line and then he would shift to second not ever powershifting and almost immediately start smoking them off again.

Needless to say we are going to have to find another place to go if my car with basically nothing done to it and 10 inch wide tires has traction problems lol.

@Moonshine I sure wish that was me with cams etc. lol

LOL
I would stay away from that track, unless you go to spectate other guys wrecking their cars.

It is worth a few more dollars and a longer drive to run at a proper facility. Nothing good can come from running at a track like that.

Enjoy and be safe!

It was kinda a spur of the moment thing. I tried to go somewhere else but one was destroyed by the tornadoes and the other had a tournament going on. I won't be going back there unless I go just to watch others.

Like I said, It was my first time to go down any sort of track and I really just did it to get my feet wet. I only made 4 passes. And three were grudge match and the other was a ricer talking sh*t.
