He could use the Coyote crank and do a 4.75L stroke. Its not as extreme as the 5.1's or 5.3's. . . And might be worth it.

I'd buy a big bore boss block and use a stock stroke crank. More displacement, less shrouding of the valves to allow better headflow, and just much better setup imho. If I ever build a block, it'd be a boss block. For you though, I think the setup would be best suited with just building a GT500 longblock with GT500 heads and selling your 99/01 heads. Much less headaches in the end. While you might save some money on heads this way, using a 5.4 with GT500 heads will be much easier and you wont have to do any custom intake manifolds or anything like that. Up to you though man.

I pretty much agree with everyone else and since you're planning on doing autocross 4.6 all the way..

plus ive never seen any longtubes for a DOHC 5.4, 4.6 all the way
You do know GT500's stock were 5.4's, right? There are longtubes out there for them. Plus, if you cant find a set, Kook's or American Racing Headers will custom make them for your application.

btw, fixed the thread title!

I'm really partial to the 5.4, but that's just me. I'm planning on doing a Navigator swap for awhile...

the only way to make power numbers are nitrous, turbos ansd blowers. The reason you dont see tons of strokers is because no one has made real power from them. This isnt a sbf the mods already have a long stroke. A stroker is just wasting money. ...just like the trick flow miracle heads.

Well it looks like Im getting a 98 mustang gt romeo block. A guy on on modular fords was giving away the block because he needed the room in his garage. Its been freshly machined and comes with new main bearings. So I guess I met in the middle.

As for going with the gt500 longblock, I dont have the money for that, and I really enjoy building custom parts, so its actually a bonus.

I didn't mean buy it, I meant build it yourself. It's just building a 5.4 shortblock with better heads than what you have now. Lol
