Default 5.4L swap install?

So after browsing around on craigslist like I normally do every morning before work I came across a 1999 5.4L Triton Motor with around 100k Miles on it for like $350, guy sayes its in good shape just has a leak on the passenger valve cover side but thats not a huge deal to fix.. But obviously getting a look for myself will be the judge of that. :]

My question is, is it worth maybe looking into and working on that engine for a future project and what kind of work would be involved for a swap in to replace the stock 4.6? I've seen some youtubes and googles of people saying its a direct swap in but does anyone have first hand experience with this?

I did a 5.4 2v swap and it was fun for the torque... but I honestly wouldn't do it again. I would definitely do a 5.4 4v (spendy swap to do right) or just a 4.6 4v. Ooooor you can always just stick with your 2v... but that's no fun.

Its not really worth putting a stock 5.4 2v in it. Youd only gain like 40 pounds of torque. If you are serious about doing the swap, Id suggest going 5.4 4v.

Considering what you pay to get 40hp worth of torque from bolt ons... its worth it 10 fold IMO. You can pick up a shortblock for next to nothing if you search hard... do the labor yourself and your way ahead of the game.

I would agree to some extent. The swap is easier to do these days with things like the HPS intake but I would really only hassle yourself if your current engine was already on its way out.
