Default UPR Catted X-pipe

Just installed it and am very UN-Happy!!! The ball flange for the DS manifold didnt seal, the ball flange on the PS to the cat-back didnt seal. I'm not 100% if the flange on the PS manifold sealed but I'm pretty sure it did. The whole thing sits low on the DS. With all fittings loose pushed, and pryd and tightened them down.

Anyone else ever try the UPR catted X-pipe?

I gave up after 2 hours of fitting, bending, screaming. So Tuesday it will go to the shops exhaust guy to fix the x-pipe if he can and install my custom cat-back.

MY Bassani fit perfectly at all 4 points, it sealed even with one stud missing in the drivers side manifold.

But it was touching the tranny...bought a M/T O/R X for a car with an A/T...

My UPX catted X fit like it should, did you use the short insert flange on the driver's side? It helps the 2-1/2" pipe better seal on the ball on the manifold, which was designed for 2-1/4" pipe...

Lethal performance makes pretty much an exact replica of that mac x pipe for lts and stock headers

It goes on the manifold? I couldnt figure it out, and the instructions said nothing. I tried all the other fittings and it didnt fit any worth a hoot. But i didnt try the manifold.

Yup, as I said earlier it reduces the ID of the driver's side pipe so that it seals on the ball cast into the manifold--if you want to "go nuts" coat the outside of the insert and inside of the pipe with a bit of muffler cement before inserting it.

You cannot actually repair a muffler with that crap, but it works great to seal flanges and for an extra line of sealing for inserts and the like.

Well i got it put in and it sealed great. I did use some of the copper high temp exhaust sealant to make sure it will be perfect. I messaged the other ball flange and got it to seal enough till i get the cat-back. But due to some crappy luck the right side manifold started leaking after i put it back together. so when i went to take apart the right side again "after it all cooled down" I snapped one stud in the manifold collector. I was unable to get the stud out and wasnt about to pull the manifold. So more copper sealant and put it back together with the one stud and it leaks very little.

So now my new question is, What are the preferred long tube headers. I have the stock k-member and it is a 5 speed. I'm leaning toward BBK Ceramic coated, or would i be better off with Basanni, or Mac or?????

The exhaust leak on the passenger side may make that bank run rich as it will suck in fresh air during the "tail-end" of each exhaust gas pulse--this makes the O2 sensor think the mix is lean, making the PCM adjust the fuel trim to make it richer.

As to headers I have no particular brand preference, however ceramic coated (real coating like Jet-Hot, not ceramic hi-temp paint) or stainless are the way to go. The coating reduces radiant heat coming off the header, stainless has a much lower thermal transfer coefficient (conductivity) than other steels and inherently reduces radiant emission.
