Default Fuel Pressure 8psi??!

Hey Guys, I am new to the forum as I you guys probably know, and I am sure this question has been answered somewhere burried in all these threads. But, I figured I'd ask anyway. I have been having trouble with my 02 GT for some time now, it runs horrible, idles horrible, and throws multiple missfire codes. I recently replaced the pcv valve hose because it was collapsed. Checked for vac leaks with carb cleaner, none found. Recently checked my fuel pressure at idle and its showing only 8psi. I am sure this cant be where its supposed to be, right? The car runs progressively worse as I get down towards 1/4 tank of fuel. But when I fill up, it runs better. Hole in the pick up line? Bad fuel pump? It must be pumping a little though right? because there is some fuel pressure. Is there a regulator that could be bad? Any help or advice would help. Thanks!

it should be closer to 40psi at idle. you can start by unplugging the vacuum line that goes to the frps and see if the psi goes up a couple psi to see if that's working right. but i'd say it's a bad fuel pump.

Thanks for the reply! When I pull that vac line the car dies.

The reason it's dying is because it creates a very bad vacuum leak. Plug the end of the vacuum line you took off with your finger or put a vacuum gauge on the end so you can also check your vacuum Pressure at the same time.

Excellent thanks. Yeah it jumped up to about 12 when I did that. Guess it must be the pump?
