Low end tick on start up...
I have yet to tear into a motor I have received for a future project but I was just curious on what you guys think.....
99 Crown vic Police Interceptor NPI 4.6 with 17*,*** miles....
I was told when the motor was pulled that it had a slight tick toward the bottom end on start up but went away pretty quick. The motor ran strong when it was pulled.....
I am assuming one of the timing chain tensioners isn't pumping up very quickly and causing the noise....
Either way its gonna get a rebuild anyway but the motor is set to be installed into my 83 hatch for awhile until I get a 32v dropped in.
What do you guys think about it?

My car ticks/slaps like hell always has since I got it 50,000 miles ago. You need to keep in mind that you essentially have a truck power-train + drive-train that was engineered in the 90s that just got dropped into a coupe to make it a GT. There wasnt a whole lot of refinement in the engineering of these systems, they are naturally noisy engines.
