Default Upgrading 96 GT

Hey guys, I've come into some cash and am looking to start adding on to it to get a little more 'vroom'. I've got about $800 to play with. I have no real long term goals for the car, but just to throw a number out there 300-325 HP.

I'm open to just about anything except NOS. A PI Swap is plausible as is a MkVIII. Reason I say plausible is the parts are almost never readily available around here.

Thanks in advance!

Defiantly invest in a tuner..it'll really wake the car up

with 800$ bucks total unfortunatly your not gonna make it to 300RWHP. If possible I'd look into a pi swap and gears.

I'm not looking to hit 325 HP with $800 lol. Just looking for a nudge in the right direction towards 325. Ya know?

Anyone have a recommendation as far as what tuner to get? The SCT SF3 on AM looks like it's well worth the money judging by the reviews. AM offers an optional package that'll include either a Stack Racing or JLT CAI. I've looked into the Stack before seeing decent reviews and feedback but nothing for the JLT.

Any input on that?

With your current mods a tuner is a waste, Gears would be the best performance mod for you right now, and I would follow up with a PI swap. To put things into perspective, cobra frenzys non-pi GT had longtubes, offroad mid pipe, magnaflows, cold air intake, and it spun a massive 190x rear wheel horsepower. Def concentrate on getting rid of NON-pi before spending big coin on bolt ons that are gonna get minimal gains.

^Yep

I had every bolt on you could do (cai, t/b, plenum, udp's, longtubes, offroad x pipe, catback, tune) and my car laid down a wopping 201rwhp....

A PI manifold will be your biggest gain and very inexpensive

Yea its a very sad reality with the 96-98 2Vs, thats why at the time I just dropped a 4v in.
