^+100, totally ghetto...

On top of that springs don't cost that much.

Cheap, fast, safe--pick any two...

I agree that springs are not really very expensive. New springs are the best way to lower the car. If you just wanted to shave 1/4" - 1/2" off your ride height, I would say to absolutely trim the existing springs, but not if you are looking for a 1" or more drop.

Shorter and stiffer springs will "need" new struts to properly control the motion of the car.

What kind of budget do you have for this project and we can probably help you make a good selection of components.

Springs are an effective way of lowering a new-edge by as much as 1-1/2" or so--if you wish to drop it more do it properly with drop spindles...

I cut 1 coil off mine. It gave me about a 1" drop. I did it 2 yearsm ago knowing the mods wouldn't stop. I'm happy I didn't spend the money on the lowering springs because today I'm going to get my Torque Arm and I will need different springs anyways.
I'm also planning on coilovers up front some day so I'd be changing those also.

There is actually tech behind cutting stock springs the right way. If you do it right, it's not a bad thing.

Talk to HPwrestler on the forum, he's got alot of knowlege on how to cut stock springs correctly...

NEVER NEVER NEVER cut a progressive rate spring.. but since ours are linear, it CAN be done with a little ingenuity and smarts.

I agree. I've cut mine with a cutoff wheel, without cutting much, and my ride is still pretty damn good for a slammed sports car. I'll never have that coilover ride, but the ride isn't bad at all! Cut too much off and you'll be buying new springs REAL SOON. lol

OP i answered your PM. I think those year cobras have progressive rate springs. I wouldn't mess with them if i were you. Just buy new springs. You wont be able to drop 2" on stock springs while maintaining a good ride quality... It'll ride like straight ***.
