Default Just registered..looking at a 96 GT

What's up? My name is Bob, from South Jersey. I'm a long time Mustang fan. I've had 2 GT's in my life...and 84 and an 88. Been driving GM SUVs for the past 9 years. I recently paid off my Trailblazer and threw out some feelers for a vehicle trade. Had somebody come back with an offer for a straight up trade for his 96 GT. Here is his CL ad:
http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/2824458166.html

Besides not being a fan of the blacked out turns or the 5% tint(that can be changed in an afternoon for free), everything in the ad and what he's said makes it seems like a really solid trade deal. I'm going to check it out this week. I trust I can count on you guys for honest, knowledgeable opinions. Is this something I should give serious consideration or do you think I am taking to much of a hit by stepping down in years and up in mileage.

Oh, my truck is an 02 Trailbazer 4x4, I6, power everything, 145k miles,a few custom touches. Not perfect, books at @ $5000-5500 as a private sale(KBB, not NADA)

Personally i wouldn't pay more than $3350 for his car. You could get a New Edge for 5-5500

Thats about where I was placing the value. Considering the blue book always runs high, I'm realistically expecting $4000-4500 for my truck. And that is private sale value. Dealer trade is surely closer to $3500 around here. Based on those numbers, a straight trade would put me in a much better spot than other choices I could make. Big question is do you think the trade is worth taking the by, as long as everything checks out mechanically.

Trust me, I know the mpgs are bs. And I definitely know you don't mod a car like that to keep it in the driveway. I beat on my 5.0s when I had them.

If I were to do this, then yes. Daily for the time being, but I will be picking up an s10/ranger or similar for driving during the week. That probably 6-10 months down the line.

This will he the first one ive checked out and I am not in a rush to buy. Also saw a 98 v6 roller that I could pick up for a few bucks and do a swap. Just sell my truck outright, get a parts hauled, and dump the rest into the swap.
