Default And so it begins....

Well, the motor in my '98 decided it was time to turn the overflow tank into a milkshake, and overheat after 2 miles of driving, I decided it wasn't worth my time to fix this (what I thought was) old worn out 2v. Turns out someone did a someone what okay job of a rebuild but either used old HG's or old bolts, either way the block is in decent shape on the old motor.

So today I went and picked up a 96 Lincoln Mark VIII motor with 72K miles, complete from TB to oil pan for all of $500. Best part is, I didn't have to pull it! So, now begins the 4V swap! and I am stoked! Enough useless banter, on with the pics!

You really couldn't have asked for a much cleaner motor for the price.

I wish I could, but I can't. : ( It's no where close to being "in the budget." I'll be at stock power levels for quite a while. Maybe in a year or so it will see like 5 LBS from a turbo, but not much more.

Thanks man! I've done a lot of research on this and read everyones writeup, so I'm expecting it to fall into place with little difficulty.

You are going to see a huge improvement over the stock 2v. You using the 96 intake? I know that the 96 intake has a much better torque range, but it might be tough to get the intake tube to work.

@JC316 No I've got a 97 or 98 Mark VIII intake I got from the junkyard for like 40 bucks, so I'm going to use that for the time being. I've got the fuel rails and throttle cable from the same car too. I also read your guide to doing this swap, very detailed. Thank you for your effort on that.

@uberstang1 That's what I keep hearing and it's just making me more anxious to get it running! Lol

Ok. While you have that intake off, it might be good to fabricate some IMRC deletes, especially since you have 3.73's. No problem on the guide, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me. My old 96 is still running good too, passes texas emissions with flying colors, gets 25mpg average.

Picked up a manifold off a 98 Mark VIII and the fuel rails to match.

I did an EGR delete on the manifold, I think it came out pretty good.
