Default Need suggestions

Hey everyone, names chad. I'm 21 and own a 96 gt. Bought it last summer, it was a 1 owner with 36k miles on it and now has 48k. Its completely stock but I'm in a predicament. I want more power(of course) but I'm trying to decide if its better to keep this 96 and build it up or start with a new platform that will respond to upgrades better? I know the 2valve is really weak but since the car is basically new its hard to get rid of it and end up getting a newer model with more miles...My goal is simple for now, nothing crazy, I'd like to come as close to 300hp as possible without adding any forced induction for right now. I know ultimately its my choice of what I should do but I'm just looking for some opinions on what you guys/gals would do? I can have engine work done for free by my uncle so thats a plus, but it just seems like it takes so much money to get one of these 2 valves up to my hp goal.

out of curiosity, what part of WV are you in?
Also, welcome to the forum!

As for your power goals, the absolute simplest way to get close to 300 HP is to swap in a 4V motor, preferably an 01 Cobra motor, but for a 4V on a budget a Lincoln Mark VIII motor will do.

***by simplest I mean WITHOUT forced induction.***

For 300rwhp -

MHS stage 2 cams, PI heads and intake manifold, longtubes and a dyno tune and you will be at 290-300 to the tire.
