my 1996 cobra 4.6 has 3.27:1 gears I ead that if you change to 3.73 gears will improve performance off the line. do you agree ,and any suggestions.

Yes it does. Another advantage is all of the gear ratios become closer, increasing performance in each gear. 3.73s sound numerically like a big difference, but it's not as much as you'd think. Unless you do alot of highway driving, just go with 3.90s or 4.10s. You'll be happy you did.

My brother has 3.73's in his '03 GT and the difference was real nice. On the highway it's a great gear ratio. I've driven a '98 Cobra with 4.10's and on the highway the car cruised around 2250 RPM's which isn't bad unless you have a real droning exhaust (Flowmaster).

Yes do it. My 2000 with 3.73 gears is a huge improvement over my dads stock geared 03.

dont forget, 98 had a T-45 trans which had a .68 5th gear, 03 has a T3650 which is .62 5th gear. on the highway a 96-01.5 with 4.10s and an 01.5-04 with 4.30s will be allmost the same

I agree with Uberstang and get 4.10's.How many guys get 3.73's and say they wished they got 4.10's.Not many guys get 4.10's and say they wished they got 3.73's.Just my opinion though.
