Planning on buying a new edge gt soon.
Hey guys like the title says I am planning on buying a gt within the next couple months. I do plan on modding, but not too extensively. My first mods I plan on doing are 4.10 gears, cai intake and a tune. I was wondering if that would get me into the high 13 sec range. Also I was thinking of going with sct tuner with the bama tunes and was wondering if the 3 tunes it comes with are preloaded or custom.

Sorry forgot to mention I will be gettin a 5 speed

Any GT from 99-04 with 4.10s, intake, exhaust and a Bama tune is definitely headed for the 13's pretty easily! Let me know if you need any assistance! - Dan |

Hey thanks for the response. Do you think I should install the gears first or go with the cai/sct tuner combo with the 3 bama tunes first?

Most definitely Gears first.. following a tuner so you can calibrate the speedo for the difference with the 4.10s.

410's will most def put a smile on your face....

Gears, exhaust, shifter, and some suspension mods should be the first mods. You can PM Dan from American Muscle some good deals.
|
You're gonna need the tuner to correct your speedo from the gears so I say either get the gears and tuner at the same time, or get the tuner first so that your mileage will read right. Also don't worry about getting a cai, they dont do anything performance wise for our cars, unless you want one for looks. I think you'll be pretty happy if you buy a midpipe and catback for sound

American Muscle sells a Tuner/Gears combo kit which saves you some money. Also, message them here and you can get a forum discount. |
I think I'm goin to purchase the gear/tuner combo and a cat-back. Hopefully that will get me into the high 13's, but if it doesn't I can always throw on a couple more bolt-ons. Also is it true that these cars don't really benefit from a CAI?
|
Yes it is, the only reason to really buy it is for looks, some people say it increases throttle response though, but I never had one so idk

Good choice! This Bama/gear package is a great stepping stone for modding your '04 GT. You'll absolutely see a significant change in your Mustangs acceleration with that setup and 4.10s. Also, CAI's will gain you some extra hp/tq and a slight increase of mpg, too! We also did a Bolt-on Build-up video with our 2000 GT, if you're looking for more ideas. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-GX...ure=plpp_video Shane |
Also I plan on getting a 5 speed with I still notice a big difference with the 4.10s or is it the auto that really benefits from them? Do you guys think cat-back and the gears/bama tunes will get me into the high 13's with good tires? P.S thanks for all the info guys you all have been a great help!

Love the NEW EDGE Mustangs. Especially when dropped and individualized. Mach1s and Cobras I'd leave alone. They look rare, and COOL enough already. Both of ours have been reliable since day one. I'm not saying nothing will happen, but only had to put Batteries, Tires and Brakes so far. That makes me happy. Since it's been 10 years and counting. Of course, I've done all kinds of upgrades to the '03 GT though. Mostly cosmetic. Yes, I do notice a diffence with the CAI. But not at ALL rpm ranges. Mostly the middle to upper end. But it is there. Also, cosmetically it does look good. Espesially the BBK, with a Trick Flow or BBK Upper Plenum.

Don't bother with the cooled air intake unless you are going for looks within the engine bay.

Yes of course! You'll definitely notice a drastic difference with 4.10s and a Bama tune! Try a quick search on the forum. You'll see a ton of 5spd guys that were thrilled with the results after gearing their Mustangs! Shane |
Sorry guys one more question what would be a good power adder to bolt on the stang the will respond well with a bama tune?
