Default Timing help

I recently purchased a 98 gt that had a blown head gasket and got the heads looked over and they are fine ( I know, I know, PI heads will come in the future when my kids quit sucking up all my money...lol) and I also purchased a new timing kit with chains, gears, guides, water pump etc. The cams in the heads were not set in place when initally removed by the original owner and have must have moved, I set the timing in what I thought was the correct position and went to turn the crank and it seems to be binding up whenever I reach a certain point in rotation. I dont know if i'm missing something obvious or whats going on, i've tried and tried with the same result every time. This is my first mustang so I'm not too seasoned in the aspect of working on these motors, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

How are you setting the initial cam placement?

I got it figured thanks to a link i found on this forum. I was going off of the marks made initially by the guy I bought the car from who took it apart and the Haynes manual I have which is pretty vague and only references that you go off of the marks from dis-assembly. The marks were incorrect and putting it off by a couple teeth, i found the correct spot and it worked like a champ.
