Default Crash Durability?

I know these are good cars and all, but I can't seem to find much information on crash test data (or films) for the New Edge. Has anyone seen any? Also, if you've been in a dust-up with your Mustang, how well did it do? I know it's not a tank, but I'd like to know the details on this car just the same.

Google "2001 mustang crash ratings", over a million hits--one of them should tell you something...

Are you looking at a safety standpoint, or if i get in an accident how much will it be to fix. If its option number 2, in todays market if you get in anything more than a fender bender consider a 9-04 mustang totalled as far as the insurance company is concerned.

^+1, they are too old to be bothered with unless it is something minor.

A lady that I work with's daughter had a horrendous crash in a new edge a few years ago. A drunk driver in a pickup truck came around a turn on a two lane road exiting a straight stretch and hit her head on. The dash was completely in her daughter's lap. It took hours to cut her out of the car. When all was said and done, she had several broken bones but was thankful and lucky to be alive. Everyone who knows about the crash - her, her mother, the EMTs, insurance company, etc. talks to this day about how well the Mustang held up in the crash and how it saved her life. Like you say, it's no tank, but overall I feel as safe as I can in a two ton popcan with a V8 engine.

Honesty when it come to safety and holding up in an accident, i don't feel safe in anything besides a full size pickup.

Bah! I'm a crackhead, Cliff. I was kind of multi-tasking when I wrote that. Yeah, Google kind of upchucked on me when I did my initial search. I meant to say I was trying to track down video or film if there was any. I found this on YouTube. If you skip to about 3:00 in, you'll see crash test footage of the newer generation Mustang. This is kind of what I was looking for, but for the New Edge.

I think they are excellent for crash durability. I got hit by an SUV doing 50 mph while I was waiting at a stop light. The impact threw me 80 feet forward into another car that I hit hard enough that they hit yet another vehicle! While I was knocked unconscious by the double impact, I walked out of the hospital under my own power that evening!

Everyone said they were impressed at how well the car protected me. While I hope never to experience another impact of that magnitude, I believe the 99-04s are up to the job.

I just got in a small accident about a month ago. I was going about 35 around a corner and a guy was coming out of a parking lot and hit the side of me. Had to replace the whole passenger side body parts, front bumper, rear rim, and rear tire. Luckily they didn't total it. But I was fine and so was my passenger. Ended up being $4600 from insurance
