Default Working on a 4.6

I'm working on a 2000 Mustang GT 4.6 SOHC and Im about to take the cams out but the book is calling for a "Camshaft Positioning Tool" I called around looking for one and no one had it. Is there a trick to getting them out without the tool?

Did you pull the timing cover? Set the timing? What they want you to do is remove the rockers on the lobes that are still pushing valves down when the cams in set at the timing marks... you dont have to do it that way however. To each their own if you're careful. Not sure of any "cam positioning" tool.. im thinking it just locks the cams in the same spot when you take tension off the chains

Basically it just holds the cams in place, I never use it when I install the chains. There are two bright links on the timing chain that align with a dot on the cam gear and the crank gear, as long as you get those lined up, you are gold.
