why did ford switch form laser red to red fire metallic

Good old E9. That's so funny as I had to put a new door on a laser red 98 sixer and blend the fender and quarter. This car was faded pretty bad but I got it to match pretty damn good. It really depends on the number of mid coats to make it darker.

yea i just want to know because i did an all over paint job on my 2000 gt and it was a bitch to paint it was laser red tri coat pearl and it was an expensive one too. i just wanted to know a little more history about it

i would say the expense due to laser red being a tri coat paint with tinted clear. redfire is just a regular paint and clear no tri coat or tinted clear being involved. and 99 gt vert its nto that laser red is hard to match it is cause any car over 10 years old is hard to match unless the paint is buffed/paint corrected and clearcoat hasnt failed and paint is not faded. people always say body shops paint never matches and it is because it is fresh and not had years of sun and weather etc beating on it. a good paint correction and fresh paint done by a good painter should almost always match!
here is my laser red and oh yeah front bumper has been painted due to old people and their love for front plates lol cant tell unless you are right up on it

Real colors like Dark Shadow Gray (CX) have ten year runs at Ford (2001-2011) unlike stupid flavor of the month flash in the pan crap like Laser Red.
Ford uses bright colors to catch the eye of low IQ buyers. Works almost as well as shiny objects on infants.
Ford got rid of Laser Red along with the Members Only Jacket wearing guy who named it.

Trust me it's laser red. Ran to 2002. Trust me I have the window sticker. Red fire was 03-07. Torch red was available in 02 as well all the way until 04. It was bright red with no metallic. Might want to do some research before posting next time
