No brainer.

Get the escape and tell her is costs closer to what the Edge costs. Use the 'difference' for things that you like.

Booze, going out to eat, bachelor party secret fund....oooohhh...I like the last one....

I do not know you or your finances. You say you are bleeding out money right now. Is she going to be pleased you are now locked into lease payments at this time. Women are funny that way, and things do not always go as planned. Taken from my experience from being married.

if money is no object hands down the Explorer, however i have a 13 Escape Limited and very happy with it under $300.00 a MONTH, Just bought a Ruger Take Down with matching pistol and carry bag

I just bought a 2012 escape for the woman, thing rides great and gets awsom gas mileage, its the v6 AWD version.

That the 240hp, 6 speed auto version? Is it quick?

Rented the '14 explorer this past weekend to drive to DC and back to jersey, going to try to pick one of those up.
