Hello, I recently changed out a clutch on a 1998 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 L SOHC engine. I replaced the pilot bearing, flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. I didn't get a good look at the position of my clutch fork when I started so I don't have good reference but after my transmission went it, my clutch fork was all the way back towards the rear of the transmission and not closer to the center. The throwout bearing was already in contact with the pressure plate tightly and adjustable clutch cable seems too short now. I have also put a new aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster on as well. There is basically no free play on the clutch fork even before the clutch cable is in the clutch fork. Is it incorrect for the throw out bearing to be in constant contact with the pressure plate in this instance? It is a cable operated clutch. The picture here isn't my clutch, just a picture I pulled off Google of how the clutch fork should be setting, but my clutch fork it sitting where I have drawn the redline without a cable even installed yet and already making the throwout bearing tight on the pressure plate.. The clutch kit and flywheel are both compatible with my car. Idk what I'm missing. Thank you.
