Default IAC on 02 engine

Hello, I have a 96 mustang GT with an 02 engine. I was wondering what IAC to put in because the computer is a 96 so therfore wouldn't a 96 IAC work better than a 02 IAC? I am confused on this and I don't want to waste 100 dollars buying one that won't work on my car.
Thanks

I would go with the one that matches the connector on the harness. Are they both the same? Are you using a 96 computer with 02 wiring harness?

yes the computer is a 96, but the engine is a 02 and the IAC seems to have already been replaced so I'm figuring the wiring harness is from an 02.

if the harness is from an 02 then the PCM and cluster have both been switched as well. or someone has done some extensive wire splicing. If your car still has the 2 coil packs and 8 spark plug wires then you still have the 96 harness. If you have 8 individual coils then someone switched harness or spliced into it.
