Ok, got the motor mounts...

MUCH better![sm=smiley20.gif]

The good:
1. much more clearance everywhere
2. engine compartment looks at least 1-2% cooler with some machined aluminum
3. far less engine torque (urethane mounts - should not be surprising)

The bad:
1. Urethane mounts - there is no longer any doubt this is a mustang... You can tell if you engine is warm and well tuned by the vibration.
2. Installation - both with the mounts and in the ford service manual fail to account for the almost 1" of bolt I had to cut off the stock mounts to clear with the engine hoisted as far as it would go (any further and it hits/lifts the car!!!)
3. Maybe this is my old-school iron block talking but 30 ftlbs for a motor mount? yikes! get the locktite! Welcome to the Aluminum world I guess...

So, dremel off the visible part of the stock mounting bolt before you hoist and all is well...

Did you go with the ones from JDM or something else?

Couldn't beat JDM's price... Other than Ford putting a 9 foot stud on those mounts no complaints...

Actually, I was kind of thinking that JDM's price was a bit high. Just they are the only ones I have seen with the shorter mount. That was why I was asking. Didn't know if you had found someone else finally making a shorter mount or not.

Someone, don't remember who, maybe 05GTSTG1 had a set of the solid mounts machined down a half inch.

Can't say I scoured the earth or even considered custom - I have zero access to trusted machine shop up here - one of these days I will have to fix that...

But, that said, I found nothing cheaper that fit the bill out of the box and I was getting impatient as the vibration makes me pull my foot back and we all know that just cannot go on...

Well, for anyone else looking, looks like dagastino has them cheaper - not sure how I missed that...

Just FYI. All three brands that D'Agostino offers are stock height.

I had the same clearance problem with my Saleen S/C installation in an '07. It onlyslightly rubs the firewall, but it really presses against the hood liner. I can't tell if it dented the hood, because it hits underneath the stock hood scoop. I would have to think all cars would be like this. I bought a set of Prothane Bullet Mounts on ebay for $116 shipped and cut .4" off the top of them, by turning them in a lathe. I then had to tap themount hole deeper.I am going to bolt them in today!

Forgot to add... If you push hard enough on the ACT harness it will eventually "click" into the sensor. No need for electrical tape.
