Default Hot under the hood- normal...?

Can anyone please tell me if it's completely normal for the hood (especially the sides) to feel pretty hot to the touch after normal use? When I shut off the engine and check back 20 minutes or so later it feels even hotter than it did after I just turned it off, and I don't know if that's because there are no vents in the hood....I've only had my 2007 GT 4 days now and LOVE everthing about it, but want to make sure that all's well (naturally there are all kinds of brand new car "burnt plastic"-like smells, etc., which I expected, but I'm a bit surprised the hood is so warm even though the temp gauge reads complely normal). thanks! If your temp gauges is reading normal then I wouldn't worry. I've never really noticed how hot the hood gets, but my engine compartment feels plenty hot.

Your car isn't sitting out in the sun is it? That will make all the body panels feel really hot.

All that aluminum under the hood gets really hot. What you're experiencing is heat soak. It's normal. Enjoy your new car and quit worrying.

+1. heat soak SUCKS and is kind of a problem for our cars. but nothing major. nothing to worry about, at least.

btw 07GT, how are those motor mounts treating you?

Even Ford admitted that the new model got a little hot under the hood, but its tottaly normal. Thats why they raised the lip of the hood on the GT500's about an inch.Thats why they have that bigger look to the front.Ohh and by the way has any body seen a gt500 front facia kit,I heard there was one but not sure if true??????????

I am very happy with them. I have never missed 3rd gear with the stock shifter. They are also about 5 lbs lighter, not a big deal, but a step in the right direction. The CHE k-member brace with torque limiters add about 6 lbs, no big deal either. I have only the motor mounts installed, I decided not to install the torque limiters. I may install just the k-member brace or sell the whole thing, I haven't decided. Oh and the motormounts were a lot cheaper than the k-member brace with torque limiters. I paid $102 for the motor mounts and $145 for the brace with limiters. So yea, I'm very happy with them.
