1/4 Mile Before & After Gears?
I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you, but unfortunately you are asking for scientific data. I have found only one person on this forum so far, that deals with scientific data. Most everyone else doesn't seem to know how or care about keeping records.
I am planning on going to 4.10's myself but I don't go to the drag strip any more. Sorry.

With decent traction you'll drop about 3 tenth's of a second and pick up 1-2 mph, most of your improvments will be off the line if it hooks, and they will get you through the power band quicker.
here is a website where people chronicled their mods and the subsequent improvements they realized from them.
It is a little bit skewed on the gear swap because they also put a crappy pair of DR's on... They then went back to the OEM tires, dyno tuned it and pulled an amazing improvement... so at the end of the day I'm not sure if the gains they saw were from the retune or the gears.

hm, what ricky said! jump to 373s was worth while. because i got a press and indicator and inch pound dial torque wrench gear changes are reletively cheap. anyway swapped to 390s. suprise, car went slower on a full quarter mile pass! however down low for the street it seemed faster. at some point gears changes also need better heads etc to realize the potential. bobn
