Default Dyno for my 05 Stang

Didn't see a section for dyno's but here it goes.

I had my 05 dyno'd yesterday

First pull was 277.69 HP and 288.35 TQ( running a tad rich from 3.5K rpms to 5k rpms)
Second pull was 279.83 and 289.65 TQ( running a tad lean from 5K and up)

SAE corrected. I have flowmasters, Granatelli UDP's, and Airraid CAI with no tune. Seems like typical numbers to me. I'm going to buy a tuner and have them dyno tune it for me. How much more should i get from the tune?

Im not sure exactly but a tune with the intake is good for about 30-35 hp. Your airraid didnt require a tune when you bought it? I do know the tune if you run 93 oct will advance your timing and you should gain a decent amount. If the intake you have is too small you might want to go with a 80 to 95 inlet pipe.

The AirRaid CAIdoesn't require a tune as long as you have the MVT piece in it. it's a smaller tube that you insert to make the mass air part smaller. I run 93 now not sure how much more that is helping. i know in one mag, a stock 05 GT with them switching from 87 to 91 octane gave it 5HP more to the wheels. I can't wait to get a tune for it.

what he meant was your stock tune is set for 87 oct (and is probably on the rich side). a dyno tune or even canned tune willadvance your spark table and make the 93 octane fuel worth its cost difference. in other words your running 93fuel now on an 87 tune and it's likely doing nothing for you except not triggering your knock sensor every once in a while (which will pull a little timing).

i'd go for a canned tune for the $$$. if you use a good tuner like brenspeed or bamachips, there'd be a negligable difference in a dyno tune which will cost upto $300 more

True, i know what he was saying. i'm definitely getting the dyno tune, the guy here deals with diablos-- 399 for tuner and 180 for the dyno tune, so that's not bad at all. my lastdyno-tune on my Saleencosted 250 for a 10 minute session from pro dyno, and 250 for the SCT chip.
The one part about me using 93 octane was the fact that one magazine either 5.0 or MMFF did a test where they dyno'd a stock GT with 87 octane and then swapped out the fuel for 91 octane, no tune or mods, and it got 5HP to the wheels. That should be due to the VCT that mustangs have now.
Now, is 93 overkill on a stock or nearly stock GT with no tune or if 91 octane gave it 5HP will 93 octane give it more??
i know a Tune for 93 octane will be more, and can't wait to get it.

Personally I ran 87 in mine with no problems (prior to tune). I would just make sure to buy quaility gas if you do. Not sure what to think aboutthe 5hp increase from just 91 octane except maybe the ECU didn't have to pull spark timing on that dyno pull. It's doubtful really that 93 would make that much of a difference over 91. Anyway good luck w/ your dyno tune. No doubt you'll be suprised by the gain.

And as for my previous post, I didn't realize that vendor had bad blood w/ MF.

To finally answer your question, with your mods, the tuner should bring you up to at least about 290rwhp and 300tq.

Back whenI had basicallythe same mods as you, I had a custom dynotune done via a Diablo CMR shop. They removed the venturi tube from the airaid and I dynoed 305/333 on a Mustang dyno. I've come a long way since then..

i always thought the s197s got 30 from a CAI and tune? maybe this just proves that they are the same useless POS for the new edges[&:]
