Default Need help with wierd problem

Ok guys i'm new on here, but not to forums. i've done some searching but no luck. any way my problem is this...my friend has an '05 GT AT. yeah i know, its an auto, its not my car so i don't care. anyway, he has this problem where the engine will rev to redline when in park and try to pull away when in drive/ gear. Now, this car has been taken to2 differentdealership about 6 times. They have replaced the TB and, I believe, the ECM; imnot to sure. This is where it gets wierd. The car does it randomly. there doesn't seem to be any kind of similar situations that it happens. Also it doesn't seem to throw a code, because the dealership has no clue as to what the problem is. In fact they tried to say my friend was crazy because they couldn't reenact it or find a code, till the next time i went with him, where one of the guys saw it and that when they replaced the TB. unfortunately after the last visitand changing one of the computers) i can't remember which one)its still doing the same thing. so now im doing a little research for him to try and fix his problem. if you guys have any clue as to what the problem is or have any questions that might help, please feel free to ask. It also seem that everytime its taken to the dealership they unplug the battery/ reset the computer and the problem doesn't happen for a while, if that helps. My diagnosis is the tranny computer or some other electrical prob...I just thought that might help. Ok thanks in advance guys.

Wish I could help but since your first post on this forum is an insult to auto Mustang owners....well, good luck with that!
Maybe next time you could refrain from insulting the members here who own automatics while seeking assitance from us.

lmao. Hey don't get me wrong, i have absolutely nothing against autos. I just said that because whenever i drive the car and someone ask me if its stick or auto and I answer thats the tone I get (because its a mustang GT, people think it has to be stick). I actually own an automatic car and quite frankly don't mind it being that way. I can drive stick; my friend can't (yet), but the point was that im trying to help out my friend here with his car because he doesn't have time to come onto a forum or do any research. I appologize if that makes you feel better. lol. anyway. bump for the morning.

I just had the exact same thing happen to me with a manual. I floored it going up a hill, throttle stuck wide open, pegged the rev limiter. I shut the engine off quickly, pulled over and moved the floor mat the was holding the pedal down.

my guess was the pedal assembly. next guess, whatever gismo measures the amount that the pedal is depressed, then the TPS sensor, then some relay somehwere in the throttle system...good luck and keep us updated
