What's up guys, glad to be aboard. Like I wrote in my intro I just picked up an 07 GT and like most cars with 200 miles on it, it's bone stock. The Ford mufflers actually sound pretty good but I wanted to get some feedback from those of you who have the flowmaster american thunder axle-back. Impressive? Significant sound improvement? My 90 GT started with a flowmaster 2-chamber cat-back system, then I added off-road h-pipe and then bbk shorty 1-5/8s and my 88 LX had off-road h-pipe and flowmaster 2-chamber.
Anyone running Mobil One 5w20 or any other full synthetic 5w20 in an s197 3valve? How's it working out? I tried to get an opinion at the Ford service department but they uh'd and um'd and didn't really answer my question.

I appreciate the feedback - like I said I'm trying to have fun without voiding the warranty!

p.s. - I was reading the post regarding locking caps for the s197, but can't find it so I'll reply here...the first thing I did after pulling out of the dealership was pull into advance auto and slap on a locking cap. I love the blue oval, but Ford should be ashamed to not offer a locker for a car with no remote-release gas door and also one that everyone's going to run premium in! I work at a dodge dealer and I'mpretty surewe offer a locker for every model - some even get keyed to work with the factory ignition/door key.

Just thought I'd answer my own question here and close the post: the flowmasters are on and they are awesome! I had some doubts about the flows because when I got my old 90 GT it had a 2 chamber cat back on it, but it was sitting behind the ultra-restrictive 4-cat pipe and factory manifolds. Maybe it's the 2-cat factory pipe on my 07, but I was definitely impressed! On my then-old 90, I swapped out the factory exhaust for an o/r h-pipe and bbk shorties, but I'm trying not to void my warranty on the 07 and was hoping the axle-back would be loud enough, because it was the only exhaust mod I would be doing.
Anyway, I highly recommend the flo's.
