Another Gear ?

Another Gear ?
Ok, i've been reading back and forth on this forum about gears. SOooo, now heres my repeated question. WHich gears to get 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10. I understand that 3.73 are if you want to eventually get a S/C. Which maybe one day in the waaaaay future i will. So what about 3.90? Could that be a medium between 4.10 and 3.73, and maybe still be able to get a supercharger. Basically my main concern is, if i get 4.10 gears, will i be able to reach higher horsepower w/o getting a supercharge? And, if im not plainning on racing, should i stay away from 4.10's and get maybe, 3.90's?

RE: Another Gear ?
Most peeps on this forum will probobly tell you togo with 3.73' in an auto and 4.10's if your a manual. I personally took their advice and had 3.73's put in mine. Hope this helps.

Depends on what you are using the car for. (I am assuming that you have a manual)
If you are going to the drag strip often or don't care about highway mileage, then get the 4.10s. Note that your highway mileage will less as you will be turning more RPMs at any given speed.
If the car is a daily driver and you drive at least 50% highway (like me), you may want to go with 3.73s. I will probably go with the 3.73s because I will never take it to the track. I want to be faster than stock, but want to cruise on the highwayat no more than 2500 RPMs. 3.73s will get you 65 MPH at 2000 RPMs (out of the stinger drone range!) and 80 MPH at 2500 RPMs. I see it as a good compromise for a daily driver.
The 4.10 people will probably flame me now.

I will be going with the 3.73's since they will provide enough gain for me currently I am running 3.31's so jumping to 3.73's will provide a considerable difference. Main reason from my understanding right now is that the 3.90's are not made by FRPP.

3.90s work very well as they are in between, they arent as popular becuase motive makes them. I can see how if you do a lot of HW miles where the 4.10s would get to you, especially with an exhaust setup like i do.....it sounds great but for 20 miles a day it might be too much. Gas hasnt really changed with mine, lots of city driving so its ****ty anyway. You will really see a different with the 3.73 if you have a 3.31, but it wouldnt be worth it if you have a manual with 3.55 already

RE: Another Gear ?
Yea, i have 3.31 gears and a manual. I was thinking about going with 3/73 gears, but i just see so many of you guys hyping up the 4/10s that i just need some persuasion. But yea, i basically drive my stang to work. I commute to DC from Northern VA and if any of you guys know, its a B****. So, maybe the 3.73s would be coo. But.... i want to experience the "fun" of the 4.10's everyone is talking about

You have got to go with what will make you happy. I put 4:10s on mine and am thrilled. I do a lot of highway driving with mine and my mpg is better than I expected (24 averaging 75 -80 mph). I like the way it response when I punch it, especially when some jerktrys to playwithme.
