Default Aluminum D/S Question

Is the best spot for a safety loop nearest tranny or rear end. Also, regarding pinion depth, will I need to check this when switching to a 1 piece al d/s?

Towards the front. You don't want the front of the DS to dig into the ground (if it were to fail) while you are going 100 mph. You can imagine what would happen.

Wasn't there an episode of Mythbusters where they did this?

yeah i saw that episode. the myth is busted...but i have seen this happen once. guy was driving his buddy's fathers 67camaro and the idiot downshifted at the finish line. the front ujoint broke and the car flipped about 4-5 times end over end. he wasn't hurt but the car was destroyed. wonder how the conversation with his friends dad went?

pinion angles usually don't need to be adjusted unless the car has been lowered or has some existing driveline/suspension issues.

i do recommend both front and rear loops on these cars since the fuel tank surrounds the driveshaft in the rear. BMR CHE and metco loops work fine with the spydershaft.
Some of the front loops require spacing to clear certain manual shifter linkage.
