my engine is knocking slightly when i gun it in second gear. around 5 to 6 rpm. Is this permanent?

 

Need more info....are you throwing any codes and do you have a tune (canned or otherwise). If it is knocking than don't WOT and get her to a shop that knows what they are doing and have her checked.

 

It may be caused by a bad load of gas. If you have a tuner, then see ifpulling a degree or 2 of WOT timing cures the pinging. Then, try a different brand of gas for the next fill up, and reset the timing back toits original setting.
If the pinging is still there, then pour a can of Seafoam into a full tank of gas. It cured a pinging problem for me.
