Default De-Tuned ??!!

I heard a few months back that you have to re-tune (or re-program) your tune, because the cars computer will eventally adjust itself back to factory...is there any truth to this? If so, how often should I re-flash?

Thanks

Atune's settings never revert back to the factorysettings. However, the ECUcan softena tune's initial aggressivetiming and A/F ratio values over time if the car is driven conservatively. So it's recommended to reflash(reload) the tune every so often to restore those initial values. I reflash mine every 2 weeks or so, or immediately after a long trip. I can feel a difference.

If your car is slowly pulling timing you should be working on finding out why. Bad gas, etc.

I would say that was a good thread since those were different questions that are not posted everyday.

Actually, I already know the reason.
It's due to the ECU's adaptive learning algorithm that utilizes the flash memoryto record and update system values. This means that the ECU is constantly keeping an eye on amultitude of parameters while the car is being driven, and then, if necessary, updates its long term memory withdifferent values(timing, A/F ratio, etc)in order to maximize engine efficiency.
Now, when a tune is either initially installed or it's reflashed, theECU's long term memorygets filled with the tune's aggressive values. If one drives aggressively, then thelong term memory's aggressive values are either unchanged or change very little, and performance stays strong and crisp. But ifone drives conservatively, then the long term memory's aggressive valuesare updated with conservative values, and performance gets mushy. When this happens, reflashing restores the aggressive values, and the strong, crisp performance returns.
I know for a fact that this happens, because I've felt the performance drop off after a long trip, and was able to restore it by doing a reflash.

Its not pulling timing...
