Default atnn: 4:10 daily drivers!!

I want to get gears in my stang but I am nervous, I've heard good and bad things about them on daily drivers. I was just wondering if any of you daily driving 4:10's have any advice and if you regret doing it or are happy you did it. I have never drove one with anything but the stock ones in. thanks

The stock 17's are 27.2 and the stock 18's are 27.3 inches.

If you drive on the interstate a lot at 80+mph then i'd probably stick with the 3.55's. If you are going to put a twin screw S/C on in the future i'd probably stick with the 3.55's.

I get 22mpg at 70mph, that's going by the onboard calculator though. I also have a supercharger and bigger/wider tires in the rear.

27.5 I thought...could be wrong

I have 4.10s. Don't believe the horror stories. You will not notice any loss in mpg and you will not be topping out at 65 mph on the highway. 4.10 gears are perfectly suitable for the street and for daily use.

I only regret that I didn't go with the 4.30s

I'M A DAILY DRIVER WITH 4.10'S. WITH STOCK TIRES I HAD 19MPG AVERAGE. WITH THE KDW'S I HAVE AROUND 17ISH.

WHEN I GOT THE 4.10'S I WAS NA, NOW I'M FI AND STILL LOVE IT. YOU HAVE TO BABY FIRST GEAR B/C IT DOESN'T LAST LONG BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT'S GREAT. I HAVE ABOUT 430RWHP NOW, BUT WHEN I GET A BUILT LONG BLOCK NEXT YEAR I WILL PROBABLY CHANGE TO 3.73 TO MAKE MY LIFE EASIER.

IF NA, YOUR TORQUE CURVE IS SO MUCH HIGHER, IT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT CAR. I SAY GO FOR IT YOU'LL LOVE IT.

My 5-speed GT is my daily driver. I have no complaints with the 4.10s. None. MPG around town is fine, especially if you take it easy. (Use 2nd to 5th gear if you want to pinch gallons around town.) They're great on the highway, now 5th has power on demand at highway speeds. Try them for a few thousand miles. You can always change them back, later.

I have the 17's tires, too. 27.2 inches is what I keep getting for circumference. One of these days I'll actually get a string and measure them.

4.10s & supercharged on a daily driver. No probs, still get 20mpg all in town driving.

I agree with what everyone else has said. I have 4.10's in mine (5 speed) and feel the car should have come that way from the factory. At 75 mph you will be turning 2,560 rpm, and 2,389 rpm at 70 mph.

The only caution I would add is on where you have them installed. My installation turned into a nightmare of gear howl! I would recommend you shop around for a good installer. If they won't offer a written guarantee on their work and that the gears will not howl, then move on to the next shop and don't pay anyone to have it done until you find someone who will stand behind their work.

I am picking my car up today from my third gear adjustment/installation. I learned the hard way (read expensive). I finally found a shop that offered me a written guarantee for parts and labor for 1,000 miles and guarantees that the 4.10's won't make a sound.

Also, buy the FRPP 4.10A gears. With a good shop any gear can be set up to run quietly with no howl, but the FRPP 4.10A's will make it even easier. Again FRPP 4.10A, not FRPP 4.10M, the M gear is made by Motive and is more likely to howl.

Hope this helps.
