Default 4:30s na??

just merely out of curiosity...
next spring (08),picking up the GT and going to get the intake/tune mod first of all, then thinking about something to tie me up in terms of fun just for the summer before next next springs big supercharger mod.Anyways,I plan on getting a torque converter, spydershafts as well as gears..with the talk about 4.30s and all it just got me thinking, would the auto accelerate that much harder from a dig with 4:30s then with 4:10s? considering the mods I want to get?
considering how hard the 4:10s accelerate I can't imagine how 4:30s would be like lol....

words of wisdom? not trying to run 12s or anything or be the fastest on the road but I want something thats faster then shiet out of the hole and hold its own at least til 110-120 or so,if I
could put 4-5 cars on most cars from a dig..I would be content til next springs sc mod..even at the expense of replacing the gears when getting it (sc)

I know I said no more street racing ..but c'mon..you don't buy a gt to putt around in lol.

never driven such a high strung auto before..kinda excited lol.

ps
best tires for traction w/hard launches also welcome.

there was this gt at the track one day, still with the new car tags on the windows..sucker ran a 12.7-12.8 all day long,it was an old timer running it.Pulling 2.0s in the 60fts. but pulling hard up top,I think it was an auto too.pretty cool...

REAL MOTIVATING
lol...not trying to replicate his success or anything but its really encouraging seeing that it takes quite a few mods to run those times with certain popular imports I was into at the time;wrxs, srts, evos etc.

the more I think about it,the more I want a fast gt myself lol.

With full bolt on's and 4.30's with sticky tires you can get into the 12.50's with practice. If you are considering an S/C in the future, you may change your mind from the 4.30 or 4.10's and go taller. I have 4.10's in mine and with my combo, I'm crossing the line at 6000 RPM'S. I'm actually loosing time with my short gears so I will be switching soon. Plan it out, do it right the first time. My 4.10's were free soI couldn't pass it up.

Running 12's is faster than most everything else driven daily where I live and most places. If you get beat, you should appreciate it. It's easy to acheive 12's with our cars.

noice...
I am just having a hard time visuallizing exactly how fast those 4:30s with bolt ons really is.

especially with the auto modded out with the trq converter...I am really expecting the rear end to really pop and break loose 1.7s with sticky tires and a clean launch.

though what does the top end begin to slow down at? 110? lol..

holy shiet..4:56 gears??? isn't that just getting ridiculous???

I really don't see how any car would be able to accelerate let alone catch traction with that short a gear..so does it just spin the tires or what? lol...

Unless money is no object, go with 3:73 gears, wider rims and tires, suspention mods. You will have a fast and fun daily driver that will be unstoppable when the s/c goes in. Good Luck!

1st, 2nd and most of 3rd completly wasted with street tires. At around 4800 in third the car/tires will finally stick.

I want something to launch like a bat outta hell but also be able to drive it daily without having @ 3500 crusing around town nor having it top out at 100 lol...

street driving an 11 second or 12 second car with 4.30 or higher gears just means you either have to have drag radials on at all times for those stop light launches or just practice a little and get used to driving sideways a bit while using the factory rubber.
I've been 12.70's with the stock pirellis with 1.75 60' times and that was in 90+degree heat this summer. with the right shock/strut settings and air pressure adjustments i believe I can run low 12's in good weather on stock rubber.
I would recommend going with 3.73-4.10's if you want any top end though. at 120 mine is pretty much done.
