Headers?
You looking at Shorty headers or long tubes? Assuming long tubes - there are tons of options. Kooks and American Racing are the most highly praised on this forum but there are lots of guys with JBA, BBK, and others. The install is a tough job in the garage ~ about 8-10 hrs. Most shops charge 500+ to do an install. You will need to re-tune the ECM with Long Tubes. As for a mid-pipe. Take your pick: H-pipe or X-pipe and then just get the one that goes with the headers you select. You will also need to decide to keep the CATs or go off-road (no CATs). Personally I like the Kooks because they are the shortest of the long tubes (not to mention high grade stainless and good fit) which puts the front O2 sensor closest to the stock position (read less likely to throw check engine lights). I ended up buying the JBA because of cost (waiting until good weather to install). Most guys upgrade their engine mounts at the same time with a set of Prothane or Steeda mounts, this can prevent rubbing problems when turning corners.
i have JBA longtubes with an off-road h-pipe. i love them. im sure im not the only one but ive had several people stop me in parking lots and yell at me at red lights to compliment me on the way my exhaust sounds. i had one guy in a nissan(i guess his family car) honk at me at a red light and asked me what exhaust i had. he said he had an 06 mustang gt c/s and hearing my car made up his mind on what he was getting. anyways, now that im rambling, ill try to get a video up tomorrow so u can hear it.
your gonna need a short mid pipe w/ LT's, the stock mid pipe wont fit. if you need to pass inspection you can get catted midpipe. dont get the pacesetter, they are too cheap. the macs are good, there are also BBK, JBA, Kooks and ARH are probly the best, but i wouldnt go any cheaper than Mac or BBK.
The stock mid-pipe contains both the stock CATs and H-pipe. For a picture check out TacoBill's write up, scroll down thru the photos until you see the comparison of the stock mid-pipe to the aftermarket O/R pipe he installed: https://mustangforums.com/m_3065202/tm.htm
I don't know much about the Prochamber system, can't advise you there. With JBA I do know the options - they make both an O/R and a Catted H-pipe to match their Long Tube headers.
The best advice is to decide on a package of Long Tubes and mid-pipe (Catted or Not; X or H)that are made to work together, don't try to mix and match these parts. So if you want the prochamber it means you are going to get the MAC longtubes. But, I don't know the options when it comes to including CATs with the MAC long tubes and prochamber.
Regards emissions inspection: very much depends where you live. You are in NY...correct? I know many locations inNY do an OBD-II port test for emissions. You can not pass this test without functioning rear O2 sensors (the ones behind the CATs). This would mean you need a catted mid-pipe. Check your local rules and see what tests they require. Every county in every state can be different when it comes to emissions requirements thus its hard for us to advise you unless we know exactly what the requirements are.
