Default $900 to install LT's!!!

I found a guy that is willing to sell me some Mac LT's for my stang for pretty cheap because he is going turbo... So I called one of the local reputable shops and asked them how much for the install. They claimed 8-10hrs of labor and about $900 total!!!! WTF?! I'm not sure if 15-20 Hp is worth that.... Do these numbers sound right?

I haven't called around about prices because I will be doing the install myself but Im sure that price is way high. I thought I saw people around the forums getting quoted around $300-$400, not 100% sure though. But $900 is way to high im pretty sure.

$900 is a RIP OFF. I got quoted $275 for long tubes and they're a really good shop.

Depends on the rates of the place you go. $900 is way too much. Figure hourly rates and look to get a little discount for an extended time. Look for a quote of around 500-600. Seems to be a whole day job.

Ok, thats what I was thinking. How hard is the install? I mean I can do most work myself, but I've heard you have to life the motor up etc.... I live in the Washington D.C./Baltimore,MD area, does anyone know a good place to do it around here? I've checked at ELD (where I got that quote from) and JPC was out of office this weekend, but their prices usually are close to ELD's. I'm willing to pay someone privately if they know what they are doing... Help me out! I can get these LT's for pretty cheap....

If you are thinking about the install yourself here is the best writeup I've been able to find: http://www.2005stang.com/gallery/alb...ks_Install.pdf

CJ Pony Parts in Harrisburg PA, 1.5 hrs up the road from you, quoted me about $550.

Thanks a lot, I will read up and see if it something I want to try and tackle or not.

This also varies from shop to shop. Quotes range from $300-900 for this. Again the best advice is to find a good shop and ask if they have done it before. You should be able to find a place that can do it in less than 6 hrs and less than $500. Some members have been able to do the install themselves in fewer than 7 on their backs, so a shop with a lift should be able to beat that pretty easily.

4-6 hours of work at $80 per hour TOPS. JJ at Woodbine Performance (one man operation but nationally recognized tuner of Mustangs and Lightenings) in Carroll County MD did my longtubes, h-pipe, tubular k-member, tubular radiator support for $680 the other day. I know that kmember took at least 2-3 hours.

Now, make sure you have the gaskets, new bolts (not necessary but I figured what the hey), and required clamps between midpipe and your particular axleback.
