I think what he is trying to do mx07gt is build a sleeper without an obvious power adder in place. My answer would be to install a Nitrous system, which can be effectively hidden from casual view with the hood open, if you are smart about it. Turbo's would be another option, but even a trunk mounted turbo kit would only pass a very cursory inspection of your engine by a novice, or a complete idiot. Now if you are not looking for large power adders, you could do a number of things. While a CAI is probably out of the question, you could combine a high flow air filter with a custom tune (from company's such as Brenspeed or Bamachips) for additional horsepower. Other options would be Underdrive pulley's, CMDP's, Aluminum/Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts, Electric Water Pumps, and Exhaust Modifications (with the understanding that anyone really looking is going to notice a set of headers). Gears would also be an option to increase your 1/4 times if that is your thing.

That being said, why would you want to hide your hard work? Half of the fun of modding your car is showing off the cool stuff IMO.

 

If you want significant HP without noticability under the hood, your best bet is a cleverly camoflauged nitrous system.
