Automatic 2-3 shift is kinda funky
I have not experienced this issue between 2-3rd but I have whenever first taking off after the car has sit for a while, it lurches a few times then its fine, I race it alot and have never had an issue at the track but there area couple of TSBs about fuel system issues, I say bring it to a dealer and hound the sh*t out of them to fix it, leave it overnight and have them start it up in the morning and see if they can recreate the issue, remember even though they know its a issue (TSB) they still don't want to fix unless they absolutely have to, don't give them the option. When I have had symmtoms simliar to what you've had with my auto trannied cars. I lookedat fluid quailty. If you have not changed the fluid since you bought the car, I would look at changing it along with a filter change. I had an 01 GT that started surging and shifting strange at 35k when it was 3-4 uears old. A fluid change cured it. The fluid will loose some of it viscosity characteristics with time and use. So my suggestion is a fluid change. SHould be able to do it yourself but if you can't, pay for it.
I know there are tranny fluids that CAN last 100,000 miles, but they don't work that great at 100,000 miles. Do some research and report back. I predict a fluid change with quality ATF will take care of your problem.

My vert shifts funky on the 2-3 gear change also. It mostly does it at partial throttle, it goes into third and kind of stalls. Can't explain it real well but almost like I have let off the throttle completely. If I am accelerating briskly, or even giving it a moderate amount of throttle, it shifts perfectly.
Weird. Not too worried about it as it is definitely not slipping.

Is there any way to check the fluid? The car has 12000 miles.

If you can get a sample, take a clean white paper towel and set it some where it won't get disturbed. Let a few drops of the fluid hit in the same spot on the towel and let it sit for a while. Eventually you should see the red color of the tranny fluid disperse out and you will most likely see a small dark area of contaminants from your fluid.
The real test you want done is the actual fluid viscosity and cooling characteristicstested. Can't help you there. How is the tranny fluid added?
Maybe an additive would help. But I would still lean towards a fluid flush with a new filter. Just like engine oil, tranny fluid and other fluids have two life expectancies: Mileage and Time. Driving in weather or conditions that are extreme will shorten both.
