oddball auto gear question..
looking up ford gears for my GT and found this-
F8.8-308 E7TZ4209A
40t-13t
3.08
pretty sure they're truck or towing gears.
it fits the GTs 8.8 rear end axle, wondering if it would fit and how much would it kill the acceleration? the gas mileage must be great lol.

Well too the old pushrod motors made torque a lot quicker than the mod motor so really low gears were not as needed. I think too the older cars were lighter.
That was one of the complaints about the mod motor when Ford switched to that is it felt more sluggish since it didn't make torque as quick. So the fix was to put lower gears. It would be great if they can regain the low end torque of the old motors in the mods someday.

just how 'slow' would an auto GT be with 2.73 gears and stock converter???
Kinda swinging the opposite direction of 4.10s I know, but it would be interesting how much gas it would be saving...
maybe a set of mild cams would give it some more bite mid-up top??
I was thinking if someone were to make the GT a road trip warrior, how would it be set up for long haul driving and not so much 1/4 drag strip monster...
yeah... bored lol.
