Default Oil Separator

Is this a worthy addition?

Based on direct user experience from members on other Mustang forums, it appears an accurate range of S197 blow-by is 1-2 teaspoons per 100 miles (on a NA motor). This equals 1/4 to 1/2 a quart of oil is being ingested into the intake each 5K miles!

6 Teaspoons = 1 fl oz
32 fl oz = 1 Qt (or 192 Teaspoons in 1 Qt)
1 tsp per 100mi = 50 tsp per 5000mi (50 tsp = 8.33oz, or ~ 1/4 Qt)
2 tsp per 100mi = 100 tsp per 5000mi (100 tsp = 16.67oz, or ~ 1/2 Qt)

I’ve had my Moroso oil separator installed now for ~ 18 months and empty it about every 3K miles. I measure the oil collected and average 3 fl oz every 3K miles driven (or 5 fl oz every 5K miles, which is less than 1 tsp/100mi). Although happy this was under the N/A S197 average of 1-2 tsp/100mi, I can't imagine this amount of oil going back into the intake to be re-burned.

Yes - it is a good mod. In the end, the results showed the best set-up was also allowing it to breath so doing the system with a 'breather' catch can is the way to go...

Absolutely necessary for high boost applications in my opinion. I pull about an ounce of oil from my Moroso air/oil seperator every 6 months. Considering I only drive about 3K miles a year, that's a lot of oil that I don't want blowing back into my engine.

I know you can make these but is there any out there on the market sold as a kit and ready to install for a reasonable price that's worth a damn?

I saw this sold as a kit once for about $150. but then you had to add a $75 piece to make it fit the 05's. wasn't worth it.

You run the same set-up as in any of the threads but use a can like this for the catch can...
