Okay, I closed the cut outs for the first time since the shorty headers and all I have to say is there ARE gains to be freed up with shorty headers. Not sure if the sound was distracting me or maybe the lack of back pressure from the cut outs, but with the shorties (and supporting mods;CAI,4.10s,Tune) it REALLY woke up the car! Pulls like a **** from a roll and launches hard from a dead stop. I topped out relatively quick even with the O/D on.. with it off, it's ridiculous. forget delete plates.. I may be going FRPP cams next!

Manually shifting, I can tell it increased WHP..nothing neck jarring, but they are appreciable and noticeable. Anyone thinking of keeping it emissions legal and doubting shorties.. that's fine, but you're missing out on hp. I took a look at the stock shorties and I couldn't help but lol.. they ain't shiet... but then again, it's stock.

headers are a waste unless you are running obscene HP, scroll down to page 6 and read their tests on headers and exhaust.

a cat back system that is a bit louder is all most guys should be worried about, i see guys spend thousands on little mods here and there, headers, delete plates, all kinds of other crap, at the end of the day they could have just saved their money and bought a supercharger for the same money and be running some real HP

That's true, I sometimes wish I never even started modding until this summer. I would have had MORE then enough for a supercharger kit

I may be biased, but Kooks FTMFW!

But you should get a CAI+tune first b/c the headers need a tune. Longtubes do anyway. Plus without the CAI your gains may be kind of low.

The sound of CAI + headers is sweeeeeeet.

Did you notice how heavy they are? Just one of them was heavier than both sides of the Kooks combined!

I did not have Doug update my tune for the LTs.
Is it necessary?

I thought nothing has to be changed with the tune except for turning off the rear O2 sensors which he already did for when I had the O/R H.

Could the tune be modified to get more power out of the LTs?

not only heavy but they looked like something off of the Titanic... rusty and copper looking, I am surprised anything flowed out of those log manifolds lol.

The JBA shorties are not doubt superior in design, they flow ALOT better then stock, no doubt.

My 2 cents. I'm planning on going long tubes myself. I think they offer more of what I'm looking for. I've heard from a gear head I know that if you have long tubes and ever need to change you clutch it's going to cost more than if you have shorties. Something about the heads being in the way. I don't know....... what ever. I'm going long tubes.

humm, I don't know, i had bbk Long tubes, with high flo cats & x-pipe. But hear is something that i think alot of people dont realize or they just dont know, but when i had those three items installed, i gained a noise that ( To Me ) bothered me, although this noise was & is normal, it's the "sound waves" to me it sounded like a clatter/ like bad gasoline, you hear it when you get on it. I know there are alot of people who know this sound/noise. To me x-haust is the hardest thing to get right, Unless... you go and listen to other gt's x-haust system, and when you hear the one you like you find out x-actly what that gt has, x-haust wise. I have heard also that these newer gt's have a pretty decent x-haust manifold, almost good as shortys headers.
I'm curious, has anyone heard that to. ?

I have the BBK ceramic "tuned shorty headers" with magnaflow off road X and axel backs. Sounds good but not overly loud. Mods before headers where..... in order..Royal purple oil, CAI. and tune, Underdrive pullies, alum drive shaft, 4:10 gears, TCI torque converter, Zex 125 shot, then....Headers RWHP before header install = 310 RWHP 311 RWTQ...after headers = 318 RWHP...320 RWTQ.......on 125 shot.... ....451 RWHP...501 RWTQ
