Intake air temps

Intake air temps
What kind of intake temps are you guys seeing? Before the intercooler I was hitting 190ish on a 90-95 degree day. This was before my intercooler on 8psi boost. My car was pulling timing baaaad and the car was slower than stock when the temps got up there. My tuner said this was way to hot and that's why it was pulling so much timing but I've heard otherwise from different sources. Any opinions?

IMO, you won't be able to get much cooler air, especially on a hot day, into your TB. Our 4.6L's simply heat soak something fierce. I'd spend my time and money figuring out how to cool the entire engine bay in lieu of the just the intake. It HAS been discussed in great detail and if I recall there's little that can be done that will provide much if any advantage.

IAT's under what conditions? Just driving down the highway, mine is anywhere from 85-100 degrees. I do know after a regular highway drive that 100 degrees will heat soak up to 130 while the car is parked & engine is off.
Today, I confirmed that if I leave it parked with the key on (heat exchanger pump stays on), the soak doesn't get past 112. At least in today's weather. Big diff from 130.
3 dyno pulls in a row with just a wimpy fan in front of the car, and it hit 170.
Before, after the intercooler...I dunno. I'm just looking at whatever shows up on OBD. What's that?

IAT2 temps (I think this is what you are talking about) after the supercharger would hit 150's in traffic and as high as 190's during acceleration. After adding an intercooler these temps (taken after the intercooler) went down to maybe 10 degrees over ambient during driving. Made a huge difference.

At idle with the intercooler I hit about 140 max while driving it drop fast...100-125ish...I've taken the car out on really cold days and I only wish I get 60's all the time..car loves it especially being blown.

I have a relocated IAT. It is in the rear passenger side of the intake manifold. I also have delphi weather pack connectors on all the associated wiring so I can change from factory readings to IAT2 simply and quickly. It's all read by an Aeroforce Interceptor. I relocated the IAT when I was running a custom tune. Now that I'm on a FRPP tune I don't need the IAT2 but have hooked into it from time to time to see how well the intercooler is working.
I did some datalogging last night at at a cruise my IATs were in the 60F range. At a stop light it shot up to 100F, after some boosted runs.
One thing to improve under hood cooling is changing the grille. I have a Roush style 9 bar billet grill which really increases flow into the engine bay at a cruise. In fact, my coolant temperature drops from 180F to 165F while cruising at 50 mph+, then returns to 180F in traffic.
